Duncan Hines Tres Leches cake mix Review

A while back i had found a really easy recipe for a Tres Leches cake. Everyone in my family loves Tres Leches. I was pretty happy i found such an easy recipe until i couldn't find the main ingredient "cake flour" i looked all over the place and i could not find it.
While i was at Wal-Mart looking for the cake flour i found this cake mix. i was skeptical but desperate to make a cake for my mother-in-law for mothers day.

The directions are pretty simple:

For Cake:

  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 3 Large Eggs

For Milk Syrup:

  • 3 1/2 Cups Milk
  1. Prep: PREHEAT oven to 350°F for metal or glass pan, 325°F for dark or coated pan. GREASE sides and bottom of 13 x 9 pan with shortening or oil spray. FLOUR lightly.
  2. Mix: BLEND cake mix, water and eggs in large bowl at low speed until moistened (about 30 seconds). BEAT at medium speed for 1 minute. POUR batter into a prepared cake pan.
  3. Bake: BAKE for 18-20 minutes. Add 3-5 minutes to bake time for dark or coated pans. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. COOL in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. POKE holes in cake with fork, 1/2-inch part. Leave cake in pan..
  4. Blend: BLEND contents from small packet and 3 1/2 cups milk in small bowl with wire whisk until completely dissolved and well blended.
  5. Pour: POUR milk syrup over top of cake slowly. Cover and REFRIGERATE at least 2 hours. Frost before serving. KEEP REFRIGERATED UNTIL READY TO SERVE. PROMPTLY REFRIGERATE UNUSED BAKED CAKE.

I used two packages of Cool Whip and my favorite fresh fruit. This cake was such a hit! Everyone was asking what bakery i bought it from. I can't believe all these years i have been spending 50 + dollars on a cake when i can bake it  myself! This cake mix is delicious and i recommended it to all of my friends and family. Here are a few cakes i have made below.

above is the cake i made for my mother in law for mothers day. i added two packages of Cool Whip, nuts, peaches and pineapple chunks.. i didn't have strawberries that day.

And here is a birthday cake i made for my sister in law's husband.

Go out and purchase this to try it for yourself! I've seen it at Wal-Mart and grocery stores as well.

www.duncanhines.com you can also check out their products online along with recipes.

Enjoy!  Do you like Tres Leches cake?  Let me know how yours came out!

Simple and Delicious Eggrolls

                    Ingredients:

2 Pounds of Ground Pork
Green Onions (diced)
1 Bag of Baby Carrots (diced)
1 Can of Water Chestnuts ( these can be found in the Asian or ethnic aisle of your grocery store or Wal-Mart)
Salt,Pepper and Garlic powder (however much you like)
2 packs of either eggroll wrappers or won ton wrappers ( i like both of them, these will be in the section with the tofu and premade guacamole in your grocery store or Wal-Mart)
1 Bowl of water (to dip fingers in to seal the eggrolls.)

After you cut up all of your ingredients they should look like this. ( i use a food processor its fast and easy )

Now dump all of your ingredients into the ground pork and mix it together.

Add a thin line of the meat mixture to the wrapper
Roll it and leave a little room at the end, you are going to dip your finger in the water and apply water to that part you have left open. Finish rolling and add a little of water to the outside to seal it.

Don't forget to seal the outside with a little water! :)

Keep rolling.....
When you're finished rolling you will need to fry them. You can use any oil of your choice.
fry until they are golden brown.

Once they are a golden brown take them out and let them rest on a paper towel to soak up the extra oil. You can add salt to them if you would like.

I like to eat mine with sweet and sour sauce and also a duck sauce. You can buy these in any grocery store or in the ethnic aisle in Wal-Mart. I buy the LaChoy brand.

Try these out for your next party they are sure to be a hit! Let me know if you liked these and don't forget to follow my blog, you don't want to miss my other recipes! :)

Thanks for reading!

Pantene Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner Product Review

Hello i am one of the moms that was chosen for Pantene's Influencer Program. My name is Phelicia Castillo and i am
a stay at home mom to on child, he is five years old. I love to fix my hair but i have the worst combination. I have very oily roots
with very dry ends.
In the summer i tend to keep my hair up in a pony tail or bun and straighten it once a week when we go out. Last summer i would braid my hair. I had beautiful hair to my waist. In February this year I cut it off to my shoulders because it was so dry. I really wish i would have had this shampoo, I am pretty sure it would have saved my hair :(
Here is a picture before i cut my hair

here is my hair a few days ago.

This is my influencer package. It contained a shampoo and conditioner of Pantene daily moisture renewal

I really love the smell of the shampoo and conditioner. It smells clean and very pretty. i washed my hair for the first time tonight with it. I really like it I was able to comb through my hair in the shower with the conditioner. I have not been able to do that with any other hair product. I was very surprised that i was able to brush my hair out so fast once i was out of the shower. Usually it takes me at the least 10 minutes to keep combing through my hair while it tangles over and over. These are my pictures from tonight.

my hair doesn't look too bad for being "air dried" Before my hair would have been so frizzy and poofy. Now it actually has a little bounce and volume to it. =)

here is another pic

I can tell that my hair lays a lot smoother in the front. I hated my haircut when I got it because my layers wouldn't lay flat i would just look poofy! haha.

After just a week of using this product my hair is silky smooth and has so much volume and the smell is amazing!!!

So my hair is looking like real hair again! before it looked  frizzy or like hay :/ here are some pictures that i took with my hair fixed. Everyone loved my hair.

If you are like me and have dry ends from styling and your hair is frizzy you should give this product a try! I was skeptical at first thinking my oily roots would only get worse with a moisture shampoo/conditioner but i was so wrong!
